Campfire Cookout

My family has a tradition of at least once a summer heading out to a campsite and cooking a picnic lunch- specifically hamburgers cooked over a fire on cast iron skillets. It's a tradition I remember fondly as a kid and I'm happy to pass it down to my kids and my siblings kids. On Sunday we all packed up and headed down to a campground on the south end of Couer d' Alene Lake. We invited Kevin's parents along too, so my kids were in heaven with both sets of grandparents there to dote on them. It was a perfect day for a cookout. The boys had a blast picking out their stick weapons, running the trails down to the water, and just chasing each other around. The woods is an ideal place to let 6 boys run free....we didn't have to tell them to be quiet once!

After our delicious lunch, we headed down to a public beach and let the kids swim. Grace absolutely loved the water and despite having not napped all day, was happily splashing away. It was the perfect day trip "escape" and definitely wore our two kiddos out! It was a nice quiet drive home that's for sure!
