Although we loved having a night away, we just can't resist coming home to this little man's charms! He is getting to be quite the cheeseball these days!

Happy Jenukah!

Those who know me well know that I love birthdays. Despite the fact that this year I turned 30, I still managed to enjoy the week long celebration which Kevin has appropriately named Jenukah. Besides bringing me a thoughtful little gift each day to end the week he planned a special overnight date for just the two of us. Thanks to my mom & dad who came over to stay with Dylan for the night, we were able to escape and enjoy 24 hours of time just the two of us! A trip out to Woodinville for the Red Hook Brewery tour, a bit of shopping time, massages, a fantastic steak dinner and a night's stay at the Salish Lodge followed by an amazing brunch! Whew. To top it all off we decided to check out the new Casino at Snoqualmie and I ended up winning $87 on a nickel slot machine. (While this may not be a lot of money to some gamblers, it is truly amazing for this non-gambler who NEVER wins!)
So now my celebration is over-- and I'm officially 30 I suppose!

Figuracion Family Visit

Saturday Darcy, Mel, Evan & Dominic drove over for a quick visit. We had planned to go bowling as a family outing but ended up just having fun relaxing around our house and enjoying each other's company. Kevin played several games of Sorry with the boys (including Dylan who thought he was really playing), the adults relished in a delicious dinner of take-out thai food while the kids gorged on pizza, and of course the boys were silly and rambunctious wrestling, playing legos, having a ball fight in Dylan's room and silly dancing.

Here are some pictures and a video clip from their visit! Dylan truly loves his time with his cousins, Auntie "Darceet" and Uncle "Melt" and we are so thankful they are back in Spokane so that we can see them more often!

Trick or Treat!

Friday was a busy day celebrating Halloween. Dylan and I attended a party at his daycare with all his buddies and then returned to do some trick or treating through the neighborhood. I always seem to notice how much Dylan has changed developmentally on holidays because I can compare them to years past. This year it was all about the candy and he really liked the whole idea of knocking on people's doors and receiving it. After each house he'd tell Kevin "Let's go find another house." He's already talked about what he's going to be next year....although I don't think he knows just how far away that is!
Hope everyone had a safe Halloween!

More with pumpkins

On Sunday Robyn & Mike came over to carve pumpkins with us. Dylan being the squeemish little guy that he is wanted nothing to do with the pumpkin guts but liked the whole carving aspect of the event. With his "help" we all managed to carve 4 nice pumpkins. The highlight for Dylan was blowing out the candles after we took the pictures.

More to come on Halloween later this week! Dylan is dressing up as a dinosaur.

Girl's Night

On Saturday my friend Bre had a bunch of the DG girls out to her cabin on Camano Island for the night. We started this tradition 7 years ago when many of us moved out to the Seattle area after graduation. Since life has definitely gotten a lot busier for all of us it has been a few years since we've set a date and had our girl's retreat.
Saturday was definitely a fun evening for the 10 of us that could make it this year. We ate, drank and were merry! I feel so blessed to have stayed friends with these girls over the past decade and look forward to many more fun times together!
Thanks Bre for a fabulous night!

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we ventured out to Carnation to visit a local pumpkin patch. It amazes me how busy a little farm gets when the city folks come out to get pumpkins. The economic down turn definitely hasn't effected the pumpkin growing industry! We lucked out with a crisp, sunny fall day and enjoyed our hayride out to the field at Jubilee Farms. Dylan picked out two nice sized pumpkins and we'll plan to carve them next weekend with his Auntie Robyn and Uncle Mike.
