Thanks to our wonderful friends Brian and Meg we were able to enjoy a fantastic weekend at Vashon Island with some of our favorite college friends. This group has made several weekend trips the McCarry's beach cabin but this was the first time with kids! Needless to say we weren't probably as rambunctious as we had been in previous trips due to the fact that we were all well aware that the little ones would be waking us up early, but regardless we had a great time and LOTS of laughs.
Thanks Brian and Meg for an amazing weekend!

A Fun-filled Fourth
We loved our good, old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration in Colfax last weekend. The weekend was complete with some golf, fishing, beer drinking, feasting, s'mores and fireworks! We loved spending some time with Grandma and Grandpa Lee as well as Auntie Robyn and Uncle Mike as well as all the extended family (35 people altogether) that showed up for the celebration. Such a fun-filled weekend-- and the best part was that our drive home was only 1 hour and didn't include traffic on the pass!

Fishing Expedition
Kevin's dream of having a son to take fishing is starting to become a reality. On Saturday, before the holiday festivities began, Kevin along with his dad and grandma took Dylan fishing at a pond outside of Colfax. This was actually Dylan's 2nd time fishing (Dad missed the first opportunity when Grandpa Lee and Great-Grandma Eng took him a few weeks ago) and from the sound of it Dylan is already an old pro. He caught the most fish and got $20 from his Great-Grandma for all his hard work! He was so proud!

Little Swimmer
For the past two weeks Dylan has been going to swimming lessons daily at the community pool where my family has a membership. It has been amazing to see his progression from the first day to his last day today. He is now so much more comfortable and confident in the water and now really enjoys his time in the pool. Yesterday afternoon we went back to the pool to cool off from the hot weather and Dylan was jumping in from the diving board! He's growing up so fast!

Crossing our fingers....
Well the offer that we got on our house on the first day on the market looks like it is going to go through! We are absolutely thrilled that our place sold so quickly and if all goes well with the inspection tomorrow morning we should be on our way to closing on July 17th. Kevin and I made a quick trip back over to Seattle yesterday and managed to get a lot of "stuff" loaded into a cargo van to bring back to our storage unit here in Spokane. It was so strange being in our house and feeling like it's not really ours anymore. It's been such a good home for us and we will definitely miss some things about it! We'll do the big move on the weekend of July 10th (our anniversary....so romantic I know). We are seriously considering a house that we found here in Spokane this week and may put in an offer tomorrow! Things are moving quickly but that's the way I like it! Cross your fingers for us that everything works out!

Hopefully I'll be able to post a picture of our new house this week.....don't want to jinx it yet though! Stay tuned.

Strawberry Picking

On Friday my mom and I took Dylan, Evan and Dominic strawberry picking in Greenbluff. It was just the perfect day and the boys had a great time being outside and picking some sweet berries. Now it's time for strawberry rhubarb pie, strawberry shortcake and strawberry jam and syrup. Yum!

Life Update
Well, it's official. I am 30 years old and back living in my parents basement. It's funny to move back into the room I slept in all through high school but now share it with my husband (Dylan resides on the 2nd floor which makes for a long climb early in the morning when he wakes up). We've managed to make ourselves at home and are so thankful to have my parents who are willing to put up with us until our house sells and we can purchase something here in Spokane. It's actually been quite nice so far! We are so thankful for our family support with this move- from my mom who busted her tail helping me get our house ship shape for resale, to both sets of grandparents for caring for Dylan this past week, and my sister and her family for keeping Zoe for us until we get a new place. Wow- we are so fortunate!
As for the status on our house.....it went on the market on Wednesday and we had our first offer that night! We had to go through the process of counter offering but it looks like we have a deal and will hopefully close on July 17th. So now we are starting to look more seriously at neighborhoods and what is out there. We definitely aren't looking for our "dream house" at this point but rather something in a good neighborhood with families and kids, a fenced yard for dear old Zoe Dog, and room for our family to grow. It's exciting to be looking forward to this next life chapter.
