FIVE!

It's been a few weeks since Dylan (aka D-Man and McDuder) turned the big FIVE. We had lots of fun celebrating this milestone birthday (hello 1 full hand!) beginning with a friend/family birthday party which included an ENORMOUS bouncy castle complete with a slide. The neighbors, friends from school and his cousins had a blast jumping, bouncing, sliding and the boys spent a fair amount of time tackling as well. We ended the day with a family spaghetti dinner with both sets of grandparents, Great-Grandma Eng, aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin took the day off from work on his actual birthday so we picked him up from school, dropped off little sis at Grammy's and headed out for an afternoon of fun including lunch at Red Robin, a movie and a trip to White Elephant to spend some of his birthday loot. In all, a pretty great day.

It still amazes me that this little boy is five. How can the tiny baby I brought home from the hospital possibly be this big and grown up? I'm so proud of the person he is becoming. He's smart (in a non-annoying) way, inquisitive, sensitive, caring and fun-loving. He's a terrific big brother and a good friend to all- Its great watching his relationships evolve and I love picking him up from school and seeing all the girls hug him and the boys giving him high fives and knucks. He loves that he's old enough to play outside with the neighbor kids, riding bikes and scooters, shooting hoops and playing soccer. The things I loved and remember as a child and I'm glad that we now live in a place where he has the freedom to do that.
Five will definitely be a big year with the start of kindergarten this fall- swimming lessons, more soccer, basketball and who knows what else to keep us busy!
