A big boy bed!

Somehow over the last 2 1/2 years our little "baby boy" has grown up! This week we finally decided he was ready to move out of his crib and into a regular sized bed. If you are not already a parent this probably does not seem like a big deal to you, but I couldn't help but feel a little sad thinking back to that tiny little guy that I would lay down in that big crib. However, getting him in that same crib these last few weeks brings me back to reality- he is heavy! Definitely time for an upgrade.

After a couple trips to Ikea and Costco we had all the necessary parts to put together in Dylan's room. Thanks to Kevin's dad the crib came down and is now stored away in the garage with an ever increasing amount of toys, baby items, etc. Last night Kevin put the bed together and Dylan helped. He loves to get out Dad's tools and honestly believes he is really helping- I'm not sure Kevin agrees.

Dylan is so proud of his new bed and has made a seamless transition from sleeping in the crib. The best part is he still thinks I need to come get him out! I'm sure this will change when he figures out that he can get out of bed whenever he wishes and we'll begin the endless saga of "I need a drink of water" or "I need to go potty." For now we will enjoy our ever growing and changing boy and all of the fun things that go along with being a big kid. Last night we looked in on him sleeping and he looked so small on such a big bed, but I know he will continue to grow so fast!
Now I have to get it painted/stained and I also suppose this gives me an excuse to go shopping for some new bedding-- all I have so far is some sheets!
